Meadowslea Romney Stud was founded in 1929. After 90 years of selection and breeding they have a solid background of structural soundness, constitution and performance.

Since the purchase of a hill block in 1990, the stud ewes have been run on the hill where they lamb unshepherded on tussock blocks. This has produced thick, deep, easy doing sheep with easy lambing and terrific lamb survival.

The Romney ewes now also form the backbone of our successful cross-breeding operation. Introduction of Texel and Perendale genetics produce terrific performance gains for clients, with the Texel adding meat and the Perendale increased vigour.

Meadowslea are also franchise-holders in the Kelso ram breeding operation. Kelso Maternal rams have extremely impressive fertility traits, while the Kelso Terminal blackface rams we breed are tough, solid and their lambs grow explosively!
