Meadowslea Spring Bull Sale
Our Spring bull sale was established 9 years ago and has proved to be very successful. We specially keep back a number of very good 2 yr bulls for this sale by restricting our June sale to just 50 Bulls. Regular and prospective clients, who may find they are a bull short, or decide to mate heifers, know they can buy a good bull close to mating. Dairy farmers compete for the balance of the 2 yr bulls not required by beef farmers.
An increasing number of beef farmers are looking at purchasing yearling bulls to mate over heifers and find they can mate them for 2 years, then works them and it pays for the next bull. We make sure to put in half a dozen top yearlings for beef farmers to breed good replacements from as well as a good selection of low birth bulls for dairy farmers.
Low Birth weights - at Meadowslea we have always weighed every calf at birth and therefore our birth weight accuracies are very high. This means these bulls will consistently breed smallish calves at birth. We have not assisted a heifer at calving for 7 years and many satisfied clients are also having a great result.
Low birth weight Sires - we have used a number of low birth weight sires that have had a major influence in our herd and show up in the pedigrees of many of the spring sale bulls.

Offering
33 - 2yr Angus Bulls including some very good beef bulls retained specially for this Sale. Among the offering are a number of low birth weight bulls ideal or trouble free heifer calving in both dairy and beef herds.
35 - 1yr Angus bulls, specially selected cross-section of our yearling bull including a big percentage of low birth weight bulls ideal for heifer mating. We will also offer a number of very good figured bulls for beef breeders.
30 - 2yr Hereford bulls – these are bought in as yearlings from Haldon Station and include a good selection of low birth weight bulls, these figures will be presented in the catalogue.
